Ulrich Baatz: On assignment for a German magazine photographing a city-portrait of Düsseldorf, among others Joseph Beuys was on my list. One morning I rang the doorbell at his atelier, he opened with a friendly smile and hello, let me step in and continued working at his big table. The floor of his atelier was covered with cow-skin leather. I snapped a few images. For the portrait I finally did here, I asked Beuys to stand close to his backyard window, the light was wonderful.
