Series Statement
This project documents the Prehispanic game of "Pelota Mixteca" as practiced in Oaxaca, México. The game involves the concept of regional identity through the use of inanimate objects. Players decorate the glove and the ball used to play with the name of their community as a way of expressing elements of their regional identity. This short photographic essay on "Mixtec ball" also explores the community built around the game played with these objects.
