Series Statement
‘Strata’ is built by merging multiple exposures into one new image that is more than the sum of the original, individual shots. By superimposing single images on top of one another, the layers of light alternately enhance or cancel out the branches, abstracting nature into an arbitrary, but still interconnected, realm. I see ‘strata’ as a reflection of gestalt theory and the philosophic concept of rhizomes, and also as a visualization of the process of memory: memories are accumulated over time, impacted by ongoing experiences, and perpetually in flux.
